This is the thick leaved form of Tillandsia Montana. These are dense plants. Just like regular form Montana, these bloom with an out of this world pink flower that is to die for. It is truly the highlight of this plant. Montana thick leaf grow in many different shapes and sizes and are definitely not the most “uniform” air plant out there, but each is always beautiful in its own way.
Native distribution and habitat: This species is endemic to Brazil and grows as an epiphyte in forests round an altitude of 750 – 800 m.
Growth habit: The plant grows quickly over a few generations forms clumps. The growth habit is negative geotropic.
Foliage: T. Montana Thick Leaf has leaves that are thick, stiff, graceful and straight. They are bright green at the tips but infused with silver trichomes at the base.
Pups: After flowering the plant produces one or two pups close to the inflorescence. These mature quickly and can flower the next season.
Cultivation: T. Montana Thick Leaf is an easy care plant and grows well in a range of conditions.
