Golden Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum sp.)
The Golden Maidenhair Fern is a delicate and elegant fern admired for its vibrant lime-green to golden-green foliage, finely scalloped leaflets, and slender, contrasting dark stems. Its soft, feathery appearance brings a refreshing splash of colour and a natural sense of movement to miniature landscapes. Perfect for tropical terrariums, this graceful fern adds a touch of woodland charm and enhances the lush, layered look of a miniature rainforest.
Terrarium Care Requirements
- Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate foliage.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity of around 70–90%, making it well suited to closed tropical terrariums.
- Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist but not waterlogged. Use filtered or low-mineral water where possible.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm conditions between 18–26°C.
- Substrate: Use a moisture-retentive, organic-rich substrate that provides good aeration and drainage.
- Maintenance: Remove dry or damaged fronds and trim gently to maintain a compact, healthy appearance. Watch for excessive condensation and stagnant conditions.
Interesting Fact: Maidenhair ferns have naturally water-repellent foliage. Water droplets can bead up and roll off their delicate leaflets, giving them a distinctive, almost magical appearance.
Designer’s Tip: Place this fern near rocks, driftwood, or larger tropical plants to create beautiful contrasts in colour and texture. Its bright foliage works especially well as an accent in lush, rainforest-inspired terrariums.
Note: Plant will be shipped bare-root.
