Polystachia Large

Tillandsia polystachia produces a tall, orange inflorescence and in bright light the leaves can often blush with patches of dark purple. This species has the honor of being one of the first named tillandsias. It was described in 1762 by Carolus Linnaeus the father of binomial nomenclature.
