Tillandsia Ionantha Firecracker

Tillandsia (Airplant) names are not the easiest to remember. To make it worst, there’s cultivar, form, variations, etc.

Recently we released T. ionantha ‘Firecracker’. This name is a trade name which helps us and our customers to identify the plant that is referred to.

Trade names are common in the commercial Tillandsia trade. These names are not recognized by the horticulture community.

Why aren’t they recognized? There are various reasons, some don’t wish to have the plant register, some due to inconsistencies of characteristics of the plant.
